Hi there

FINALLY had a chance to sit down...

Not that I didn't sit all Thanksgiving break to watch my newly purchased Gilmore Girls DVDs (seasons 1-3), because I did. And I slept a lot - you don't realize how sleep deprived you are until you get a few days with no obligations to get up before noon.

The holiday was good. My parents and I had a low-key Thanksgiving dinner (the usual boxed stuffing, potatoes, etc.) and a friend of mine came over to join us. The next few days I ate leftover turkey in different forms and by Monday had had enough turkey for the year.

It's now December and I can't believe it. Although my family has our Christmas tree up, it's 70 degrees and you can wear short-sleeve shirts outside. Welcome to the South.

I recently updated my address book and was amazed about how many of my friends have recently changed their last names or how many times I've added spouses' names to old ones -- all signs I'm getting older and my friends continue to get married. On one hand I could be sad, but to be honest there's something fun being witness to these changes when I'm not in the eye of the hurricane. And I'm really glad all of my friends are happy. Makes me feel very lucky I have such special people in my life. Especially ones who move to fun places I can now visit:)

Obsession of the week: Dessert after lunch

Recent purchases: The Beatles's Abbey Road (favorite song: Golden Slumbers)

Starting to read: Ian McEwan's Atonement

Don't forget to watch: Adult Swim's Robot Chicken Sunday, 12/9 at 10:30p central. TRUST ME!

I know I'll get shunned for saying this but Abbey Road is my favorite Beatles album. I had it on tape. Something is my favorite Beatles song and I have a version of George singing it acoustically that always gets me. Here's more blasphemy: George is my favorite Beatle.

Abbey Road is my fave, too! I like it because it's the last album they ever recorded.

Dude -- I have all the Gilly Girls except Season 7. I've been waiting for it to go on sale. LOVE that show!

I forgot you had a blog, too! I'm going to put a link on the Illini friends blog so I remember to check it. Rock on!
