No, it's Morgan Freeman

Happy New Year! And by Juno*, it feels like summer! After a brief after-holiday cold spell, it's now 68 degrees. But I don't hate, I appreciate. This gives me the opportunity to get out of the house and practice using my new camera. It's an Olympus and since I'm trying not to be afraid to express myself through color, I got it in shiny red. I took the picture below at a local park.

I also got a new iPod nano (finally!). I was plenty happy with my old iPod mini, but the battery died. When I took it to the Apple store and pulled it out, I actually saw the salesperson flinch. Another guy walking by said "Woah - a mini!" I don't think either had seen a mini since 2005, but seriously, they acted like I brought in an old Macintosh for maintenance.

My mood lately has been strangely upbeat. Don't know why. I think after some work-related meltdowns I made a concerted effort to enjoy the holidays and it worked. I recently talked to a friend about happiness and I think for me it's about simple things - like getting an unexpected postcard, watching a Law and Order episode I HAVEN'T seen, or sharing a laugh with a coworker. I guess I'm just a simple person. (By the way, what makes you happy?)

Song in my head: David Bowie's All the Young Dudes

Can't wait for: Lost premiering on January 31

Obession of the week: Britney's meltdown

* I mention the movie Juno because I went to see it today. It reminded me a lot of Rushmore. The movie wasn't completely original, but it was still good. I'm sure it's 100 times better than the vomitus-producing P.S. I Love You, whose previews looked so horrific I'm not even going to dignify the title with its own hyperlink.

Yay! Lost! I can't wait. And I also can't remember what the finale was like because it was 6 months ago ...
